Weekly Reflections

Hi everyone. This is the place to write your weekly learning reflection. Each week there will be a slightly different focus. You will need to plan out what you want to write before you begin.
This week you will be reflecting in three paragraphs.

Paragraph One:
Please comment on how you feel you have organised your time this week. How you know you have done well/could have done better. How have you showed initiative or taken responsibility for your learning? If you are unsure please look at the model in the class..

Paragraph Two:
In what way have you achieved your learning intentions this week? How do you know you have made progress in writing or with your fractions understanding? What do you feel you need to learn next?

Paragraph Three:
What did you enjoy learning at school this week and what are some of your goals for next week?

I am looking forward to reading your reflections!
Mrs Phelps

  1. So far this week i've organised my self okay,But I could work on completing all my tasks on time.

This week I feel I've achieved my walts in my persuasive argument because i've used modals such could and should .

I've enjoyed writing my persuasive argument because I got to choose what I write about. My goals for next week are to get more aggresive and to try to persuade more people.

    1. Preston I am pleased to see you paragraphing your writing. This has been one of your goals and it looks like you are well on your way to achieving it! One way of adding extra strength to your arguments is to use features such as rhetorical questions or appeal to your reader's emotions by using expressions such as, "how can you possibly bear to see children suffer in this way?"

  2. This week is the first week I am back at school since my holiday in the
    north island.
I feel that so far I have been concentrating on my work.
I know this because my work has been to a reasonable standard, and I have not often been off task.

I have been focusing on my persuasive writing, and making sure I get enough done, before I move on to other things

    1. Well done Joseph! It is always good to consolidate (really nail) your understanding.

  3. This week I have been organising my work and timetable well. Around 98% of the work I have to do is complete, and the other 2% is the work I did not understand.

Most of my tasks on study-ladder and mathletics are complete, even though I have not spent the most time on them.

Overall I think the work I have done this week is a good deal, and has been finished without too much struggle.

So far this week I have been completeing all of my work, but I still have room to improve.

This week I also feel I have learnt lots of new things in WRITING for example modals and writing my persuasive writing in the write text and the way you put it together.

Fractions, decimals and percentage I believe I am getting the hang off in MATHS but still need a little help sometimes.

When I look back on my READING this week I have been geting all of my work completed and reading is also helpinng my persuasive writing skills as we have been reading other uguments.
And I am improveing lots with my I.T.T.M (I think that means).

    1. Thanks for your reflection Lydia. I have noticed everyday how on-task and self-managing you are. You seem to be coping extremely well with juggling your time to fit you learning in to a plan that suits you. I am hoping that next week you can help some of the other students who are struggling with organising themselves.
You have showed great improvement in your ability to make your paragraphs flow smoothly. Another way to add extra impact to your persuasive texts is to quote facts, figures and statistics. For example, 'studies have proven that 96% of people want this . . ."
Thanks for your honest reflection. Mrs Phelps

  5. WEEKLY REFLECTION!!
I have inproved on my ITTM,but I need to improve on my word knowledge. I can improve this by looking a word up in a dictionary when I am not sure.

I need to improve on my decimals and percentages. I can achieve this by carefully looking at fractions and simplify them an change them into decimals. This will make percentages easier.

With my written launguage I can explain a simple idea but I can't quite elaborate on it enogh. To achieve this I'll have to take the time to explain even more so I can elaborate enough.

Overall this week I havn't done to bad, I acheived my goals for this week but now I have to acheive next weeks goals.

    1. A really honest reflection Rebecca - you are elaborating well it is just remembering to do so throughout your whole writing not just in one paragraph. It is great to see you try and experiment with using new words.

  7. This week I have managed my time wisely. I have gotten a bit sidetracked at times. I feel I have been on track with my learning.

In writing this week I have been going well. I have used persuasive words as well as elaborated topic sentences. My schedule has given me lots of time to use for writing. I have also been using the modules.

In maths I have been doing percentages. I think that I am going rather well. My percentages are improving majorly.

My work has been finished on time and up to a good standard. My goal is to try to finish my arguments to a high standard.

  8. So far this week I feel I have organised myself really good, but I need to work on getting everything on time and make sure I keep an eye on my time.

In writing this week I have done a good job because I met my goal of using correct paragraphs and using my emotive language.

In reading I have improved using my I think that means, but now and then I need someone in my group to help me.

Next week I'm going to focus on persuading more people and use more modules in my persuasive writing.

  9. Reflection on my Fractions.

So far this week I think that i have pretty much mastered Fractions, so I think that i should focus more on different areas of maths.

Fractions are beginning to become pretty easy for me so I think I should probably move on to Percentage and some areas of Decimals.I don't really think that i need a goal for Fractions.

I kind of enjoyed the worksheet I was given on Thursday. My goals for next week and as I have already said, I should move into different areas of maths

    1. It is a good feeling when you begin to master your learning this is why you are now learning how to convert fractions into a percentage amount.

  10. This week I am proud of the work I have completed. I have finished 9 out of 10% of my work. Some of my work I did not understand, this was because I had not learnt how to do the equation yet.

Reading has gone well. This week I have done approximately 4 S.O.L.O activities and read all the books I had to read.

For writing I have been learning to write arguments. I completed my argument on where kids should sit in the classroom, as well as another one Which I worked with Schkelia on.

Overall I am proud of the work done this week, and am sure next week will be even better!

This week in my scheclule I have planed an easy way in my note book and I used full stops and capital letters in my writing.

I've tried to stay away from Blake when I should be doing my work. I do get stuck some times in work time so then I start to blabber box.

The teacher usually yells at me so that can be a bit annoying.

So far my week has been alright but I have had a bit of stalls tough.

    Solution

I could have tried and not get distracted from Blake and stay on task.

    1. Arnie it has been great to see you put in real effort to focus on your work rather than speak to Blake. You did this well for four out of five days this week.
I would have to disagree with your yelling comment since I am not a person who does that. You may have meant to say "the teacher usually tells me to move away from Blake."

This week I have completed my reading, but to be honest I got a litle help from a friend because I didn't understand my task.

This beginning week I have determinedly achieved my w.a.l.t in our persuasive writing from proceeding and completing my difficult argument, that sadly has alot of mistakes.

For my math I have completed all my sheets but I got majorly stuck and asked one of my friends,so I got my work done faster!

    1. There is no problem at all in asking for help Jorja. You have tried really hard to paragraph your writing and are making great progress in organising your ideas. Keep up your efforts!

So far this week has been good and my reading has been alright 2.
For my persuasive writing has been finished apart from my "Why can't we play rugby at school persuade.

they other writing I have been doing my descriptive writing about a computer with the wireless mouse and keyboard with a bonus of a big screen 2, yay.

For art we are doing the doodle for google and I had finished yesterday finally. They other art we are doing is our name for the calendar I think. This time we can do what ever theme we can. I've decided
to do 3D things and a touch of Minecraft.

  25. My teacher told me I wasn't honest last time so I will try to make an honest reflection this time round.

I believe that I have completed my tasks to a horrible standard but I have successfully completed my tasks around the time and for that I am proud.

I will take responsibility for being off task as the teachers tell me to . I will be honest as i said at the start but still all that hassle just for interaction is just ridiculous.

But I will always try to shove as much learning in my brain as possible.

So far tis week everything has been going fine.
READING is helping me improve my I.T.T.M to be honest I think I have improved loads from the start of the year with everything in reading.

MATHS has been great because I have been learning loads new things but some times I get a little bit confused but some one in my group helps m,

WRITING hasn't been a problem as my descriptive writing is getting better with all the new words i've been learning this year.
This week has been good so far but I can still improve on some things like being a bit quicker in my maths sheets.....

  27. I have not been happy with school these past few weeks because I am constantly hassled to do my work It is so silly.

I have been doing ok to do my work I find the amount of work I am getting Is just plain dumb.

I have done well on narrative but have gotten off the tracks by having a little chat I feel that my narrative is totally amazing.

Overall I did 6/10 I think these few weeks hopefully I will not have to write this ever again

    Learning means to me fun.
When we learn reading it's fun, writing is fun. Well all of it is fun

It looks like in my class that some of the students don't appreciate what people do to help us learn. I manage my own learning by not listening to people who try to annoy me and i also help when others need it.

  29. Learning to me is a way to know things that you never even knew, If we didn't learn then we wouldn't know what is correct, what we think is correct, or if we think it is wrong.
To me what learning looks like in our class is magic, it is happening every second with our magnificent teacher Micelle.
I help my learning by ignoring those who know they are doing something wrong.

  32. Josephine's definition of learning
I think learning is like discovering new things and practicing them to get better at it.Like last week.I learned a new stretch and I wasn't very good at it. I'm going to practice it over the week end so as I can use it to improve my core and get better at swimming.so,I know that if you learn one thing,it'll give you benefits for other things.
I think learning looks like someone in a book finding a new fact to them or they've found a roadblock OR people in a confersation learning wisdom from others.

    Thank you for reading.
